Every announcement has to reach people clearly. VLS 5 is a passive column array for speech-only installation applications. Its five 89 mm drivers spread sound 130° horizontally and hold it to 45° vertically (-6 dB).
Directivity from the column itself
Inside, a passive network uses frequency shading. The directivity index averages 8.6 between 1 kHz and 10 kHz. Rated maximum SPL is 110 dB average and 116 dB peak (1 m, Lo Z).
One speaker for either line type
Every VLS Series model runs as a low impedance loudspeaker or within a 70/100 V distributed system. On the rear input panel, a multi-position rotary switch chooses mode and transformer tap. A second, parallel barrier strip connects additional loudspeakers.
Ready for most outdoor sites
VLS Series loudspeakers are rated IP64 for resistance to dust and moisture ingress. They also resist salt spray and UV exposure. For outdoor jobs, VLS 5 includes a watertight, right-angled cable gland. For extreme conditions, consult your Tannoy dealer first.
